Description
Aftermarketย VW .658 ratio 5th gear with spring washer. A solidย upgrade over the typical .756 TDI 5th gear. Typical drop over a stock TDI is approximately 450ย rpm. This is our most popular upgrade and is usually the best available option for those driving an average 65-70ย MPH while commuting.
It is recommended that the gear oil and transmission seal be changed when a 5th gear is replaced.

Note on Installation: Be sure to heat the gear to 100ยบC when both removing as well as re-installing the gear or you risk damaging it. It is a good idea to use blue Loctiteยฎ onย the small gear pinion shaft.
Note for BEW Engine Code: Vehicles with a BEW engine code will lose Cruise Control functionality unless this modification is also paired with a tuneย that accounts for it.
