Description
Franko6 Stage IIย camshaft kit for VW TDIs with a BEW engine code. This kit is designed to include all the partsย required to replace the camshaft.
Franko6 designed this camshaft and remachined the cam bearings to eliminate known oiling and wear issues with the factory parts. They significantly improve oil flow to better dissipate heat and reduce wear. Theย camshaftย has been chrome-plated forย a smoother, harder finish. This camshaft, used properly, has noticeably greater longevity than a factory camshaft. This BEW camshaft is often used in engines with a BHW or BRM engine code due to its further increased reliability over the camshafts traditionally designed for those engines.

2004-2005 VW Jetta TDI (not late 2005.5)
2004-2006 VW New Beetle TDI
Warranty Note: This camshaft comes with a 3-year, unlimited mileage warranty against manufacturer defects. Franko6 requires that the camshaft be used only with the modified cam bearings and broken in with the Joe Gibbs Break In oil included in this kit. Documented oil changes must be performed at 10k mile intervals using either of of the following VW 505.01 spec products: Liquimoly TopTec 4100 or Pentosin HPII.
Franko6 requires photographic documentation with any warranty requests, and reserves the right to inspect the camshaft (in some cases the complete cylinder head) to determine the cause of failure prior to any warranty approvals.
Installation Note: Proper break in of a camshaft is essential for proper functioning and longevity. Joe Gibbs Break-in oilย facilitates that well. Below is the recommended process.
1. Put assembly lube on all lobes, lifter faces, distributor gears, bearing journals, lifter barrels, and oil pump gears.
2. Turn the engine over by hand to make sure that nothing is binding up (e.g. cam bearings are properly seated) and that timing is correct.
3. Rev engine to 2000-3000 RPM for 20-30 minutes. Drain break-in oil, don’t change the filter.
4. Refill with break-in oil and drive normally for about 500 miles.
5. Drain oil again and replace the filter and oil, using proper VW 505.01 spec oil such as Pentosin HPII or Liquimoly. A bottle ofย ZDDP additive can provide further protection.

Injector rocker bolts – 038 103 714 A — Special Non-stretch torque to 25 lb/ft
